Chinese Culture, Painting & Calligraphy

Kyra has developed a deep and growing appreciation for Chinese culture, reflected in her dedicated pursuit of Chinese painting and calligraphy. What began as an interest has evolved into a meaningful exploration of art, history, and tradition.

Kyra completed a formal Chinese calligraphy course from 2025 to 2026, and continues to actively refine her craft through ongoing weekly practice and lessons. Her calligraphy teacher has mentioned that she is the fastest learner among all her students she has taught so far. Through these disciplines, she not only develops artistic skill, but also cultivates patience, discipline, and a deep respect for tradition.

Her artistic pursuits have also gained recognition. One of her Chinese paintings was selected for a school exhibition and featured in the school yearbook, a testament to both her talent and dedication.

Driven by curiosity on Chinese culture, she has immersed herself in cultural learning beyond the classroom, travelling to China cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shangri-La, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lijiang within a short span of six months from late 2025 to early 2026. By immersing herself in the rich Chinese history and visiting the ancient old towns there, these experiences have broadened her understanding of Chinese history and enriched her appreciation of its cultural heritage.
