Leadership in Action

Prefectorial Duties

As a Prefect at Henry Park Primary School since Primary 5, Kyra leads with integrity, discipline, and empathy. Having transitioned into the new school in Primary 4, she quickly rose to take on leadership responsibilities, setting a positive example for her peers.

She is particularly passionate about guiding younger students, evident by the number of friends she has across Primary 4 & 5 even when she is now in Primary 6. She  encourages them to look beyond themselves and contribute to a kinder, more inclusive school community.

She was also chosen to mentor junior prefects for 1.5 years, and was also chosen to do the flag-raising during assemblies, and is also part of the whiteboard committee.

Through her actions, she demonstrates that leadership is not about authority, but about influence, responsibility, and care.

Community Impact - Serving the Local Community

FoodBank Donation Drives

Guided by the conviction that small actions can spark meaningful change, Kyra actively contributes to her local & neighbouring community. She has organized food donation drives in her neighbourhood in support of The Food Bank Singapore, especially during festive periods like Christmas and Chinese New Year.

Clothes and Shoes Donation Drives to Cloop  &

Books Donation to Re:Nue, Dignity Mama, MINDS Shop and National Library

She has organised a few runs and regularly lead clothes, toys, shoes collection and recycling donation efforts via Cloop. She has also repurposed and donated books and comics to various social enterprises which includes Re:Nue by The Salvation Army, Dignity Mama, and MINDS Shop at Margaret Drive, as well as the National Library. Kyra always mobilizes those around her to support families in need, while promoting sustainable and mindful giving.

Befriending the Telok Blangah Elderly & Bento Delivery

Additionally, she also dedicates her time to befriending elderly residents in the rental flats of Telok Blangah, and delivering bento lunches to them during Christmas, building genuine connections and bringing care, dignity, and companionship to those around her.

Hands-On Volunteering

Willing Hearts

Kyra’s commitment to service is reflected in her discipline and consistency. As a regular monthly volunteer with Willing Hearts, she begins her Sundays reporting at 5:00am sharp at Willing Hearts in Telok Kurau, working as a team with other adult volunteers in the kitchen despite always being the youngest volunteer.

She helped to prepare the rice to be cooked when assigned back of the kitchen duties, preparing rice and water in trays for cooking, to scooping the cooked rice & noodles, and various dishes into individual bento boxes. The ready bento boxes were then tied into 20 boxes per bag, before handing the packed meals to other delivery volunteers to be delivered to beneficiaries across Singapore.

Through these experiences, she has developed resilience, teamwork, and a deepened sense of empathy, qualities that continue to shape her growth as a leader.

Acts of Meaningful Giving

Grant-A-Wish Initiative (MSF ComLink+)

Believing in thoughtful and purposeful giving, Kyra participated in the Grant-A-Wish initiative by setting aside her own pocket money to fulfill the Christmas wish of a fellow student.

She purchased a vacuum cleaner to support the student’s family after learning about the wish of the teenager who has requested it as his Christmas wish, for his family. Kyra sprang into action, and delivered it down to him. A simple yet impactful gesture that brought comfort and practical help to a household in need, reflecting her ability to empathize and respond meaningfully.

Regional Outreach

Sharing Love at Grace Joy Home Orphanage in Batam, Indonesia

Driven by a deep empathy for children from less privileged backgrounds, Kyra has formed a meaningful and sustained connection with the beneficiaries of Grace Joy Home in Batam, Indonesia. This Batam home was founded by, and is the personal charity of Dr. Bill Foo, the current Salvation Army Chairman in Singapore, whom Kyra has known personally through her regular engagement here. More than a volunteer, Kyra is a regular and consistent presence, investing time to build friendships, encourage, and uplift.

Taking initiative to create tangible impact, her journey with them started as early as 2024, where she repurposed & gifted her personal laptops to support the children’s learning and educational needs. In another school-related initiative for them in December 2025, after months of disciplined saving, Kyra independently funded, bought and gifted a brand new Huawei tablet as Christmas presents for the kids, hoping to help and to empower their access to education.

In her most recent visit to Grace Joy Home in 2026, Kyra initiated and channeled her savings from her own pocket money to buy all the kids brand new bed sheets, and brought it down to Batam and gifted to each of the kids individually.

At the home, she also leads the kids in prayers, devotion and also conduct learning workshops for them.

Handmade Solar Lamps for Cambodian Children

Kyra also took part in an initiative to assemble hand made solar light lamps, to be distributed to children in Cambodia. This initiative will enable them to use the light in the evening when it is dark so as to conserve energy. Accompanying the lamps are also handwritten notes of encouragement written and given to the beneficiaries.

Environmental Stewardship

Beach Clean-Up at East Coast Park

Kyra’s participation in beach clean-up initiatives reflects her deep commitment to caring for both the environment and the community. Through these efforts, she has come to appreciate that protecting our surroundings is a shared responsibility, one that begins with small, consistent actions.

Working alongside her elder sister, a secondary two student from Nanyang Girls’ High School, she has learned valuable lessons in humility, teamwork, and perseverance. These experiences have also deepened her awareness of the impact of human habits on nature, reinforcing her belief that everyone has a role to play in building a cleaner, more sustainable world.

NParks Volunteering - Citizen Science in Action

An avid environmental advocate, Kyra actively volunteers with Community in Nature under NParks, contributing to citizen science initiatives across Singapore. Through these efforts, she participates in the regular observation, identification, and tracking of biodiversity,  including birds, butterflies, and dragonflies.

Her involvement has taken her across various green spaces such as Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Thomson Nature Park, West Coast Park, and also the Singapore Botanic Gardens. These experiences reflect not only her curiosity and discipline, but also her commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation.

At her core, Kyra strives for excellence while remaining deeply committed to uplifting those around her. She aspires to join a secondary school that values leadership and service, where she can continue to serve and grow, lead initiatives, and make a even bigger and meaningful difference and impact.

For Kyra, leadership is not defined by titles, but by action, intention, and impact, a journey she is committed to pursuing with purpose and heart, in Singapore and beyond.

She believes that while she cannot change the world through her single effort alone, every effort she does would hopefully touch someone she knows, and make a difference.
